it is for

• both local and foreign employee under a contract of service or apprenticeship, regardless of salary, age or nationality.

• when applying for or renewing a Work Permit or S Pass, to update MOM the work injury policy details


is not for

• self-employed
• domestic workers
• independent contractors
(contract for service)
• any member of the SAF. uniformed officer of the SPF, SCDF, CNB and SPS


is must have

• for all employees doing manual work, regardless of salary level

• for all employees doing non-manual work, earning a salary of $2,100 or less a month, this excludes any overtime payment, bonus payment, annual wage supplement, productivity incentive payment and any allowance. (salary threshold for non-manual employees will be increased to $2,600 from 1 apr 2021)

• cannot be replaced by other type of policies, e.g. group hospital and surgical, personal accident and etc.


good to have

• for all other employees, employer may decide whether to buy the insurance

• if this group of non-mandatory employees make a valid claim, employer will have to compensate them regardless of whether they are insured


compensation for

• medical expenses related to a work accident up to the maximum limit, which is $45,000 or 1 year from the date of the accident, whichever comes first.

• for working days your employees were issued with medical leave

• calculated based on average monthly earnings (ame) which includes earnings, overtime pay, bonus and all other allowance(s) paid for work over the past 12 months before the accident date.

make a wsh incident report within 10 days at mom website when:
• the employee was given medical leave or light duty
• notify mom as soon as possible for fatal accident

  • past 12 months payslips prior to the accident and during medical leave period
